A Chilean Legend in London & Manchester… Diablo & Supper

The Diablo SupperClub team has, this week, been spoilt with a visit from legendary Casillero del Diablo winemaker Marcelo Papa. Amongst a hectic schedule of media events, press tastings and broadcast interviews, Marcelo also hosted dinners at Harvey Nichols in London and Manchester.

Marcelo and wine extraordinaire Peter Richards MW (this is one seriously knowledgeable wine guy!) hosted the evenings, which saw 90 fabulous guests at each venue enjoying sumptuous five course menus matched with Casillero del Diablo wines.

I attended the London event and am still dreaming of the presse of corn-fed chicken, with salted hazelnut crumbs and tarragon emulsion (image below), which was perfectly paired with the award winning Casillero del Diablo Casablanca Chardonnay 2009.

Whilst Diablo SupperClub team member Cathy, who joined Marcelo and Peter in Manchester, will not stop praising the match of Goosnargh duck, leg Bahji, red cabbage and fondant potato and Casillero del Diablo Shiraz 2010.

Alas, yesterday Marcelo left London to return to Chile – however he is rumoured to have spent the final day in London (and first day off in weeks!) satisfying his addiction for fine leather shoes, with a trip to Oxford Street.

It was absolutely wonderful to have Marcelo in London and we eagerly await his return next year!
