Cookery Time and Some Fine Wine!
How time flies! We have just rounded off yet another great seasonal competition, filled with fabulous recipes sent in by you fabulous people. Of these culinary creations, we selected six winners who were treated to a delightful day of food and wine at the Waitrose Cookery School in London.
Guests were taken through the Casillero del Diablo range with an excellent wine tasting courtesy of Ray O’Connor and then it was onto the cooking! The menu for the day consisted of:
Oriental tuna loin salad with avocado, radish and shallots

Casillero del Diablo Casablanca Chardonnay 2010
Oregano marinated lamb with fruity rice
Casillero del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Chocolate fondant with white chocolate sorbet

Casillero del Diablo Sparkling Brut Reserva Chardonnay 2009
Once the cooking was done, everyone sat down to enjoy the fruits (and veg!) of their labour. Each course was paired with two Casillero del Diablo wines, giving the guests an opportunity to find their perfect food and wine match! The winning pairing of the day was the tuna loin salad with the Casillero del Diablo Pinot Grigio - the wine’s crisp fruity character balanced the tuna and strong flavours of the radish and shallots.
