Last week I had the pleasure of arranging another fabulous supper club… this time, destination Manchester! I have always had a soft spot for Manchester – it was the first place I lived when I reached UK shores 10 years ago, and whilst a gap year living on the curry mile resulted in a rotund little Miss_McIntosh trundling off to university, I love the place – it’s creative, friendly and wonderfully Northern.

Apart from the the divine combination that is Colin Firth, Andrew Lincoln and Hugh Grant, I firmly believe that Christmas offers us so many excuses to fall in love. Love truly is all around… actually!

I’ve just spent a glorious 3 days in Spain. Some of it on a pig farm. But, why?! I was exploring the wonderful world of what is often described as the world’s best ham - Jamon Iberica de Bellota of Spain. My personal favourite, rich and succulent with a heady aroma, it is produced from the acorn fed black pig in Spain.

The Diablo SupperClub team has, this week, been spoilt with a visit from legendary Casillero del Diablo winemaker Marcelo Papa. Amongst a hectic schedule of media events, press tastings and broadcast interviews, Marcelo also hosted dinners at Harvey Nichols in London and Manchester.

From the epic London double-header at Twickenham, to sevens at The Stoop, and a Nottingham pre-season to support my lovely friend Kieran Hallett, the past few weeks have been fairly rugby-centric and this particular situation is something I truly relish.

All of this rugby got me to thinking about the ultimate culinary triumph that we may associate with the mighty game… My mind flittered past chips, positively skipped over burgers and hardly glanced at hot dogs, before reaching the mighty pie in all its meaty glory.
