London has its fair share of markets, whether it’s a farmers market in Islington or the famous Borough Market near London Bridge… Londoner’s really are spoilt for choice. One of the city’s newest markets is Brockley Market in Lewisham, and it’s quickly gaining a reputation as a destination for great food. As a venue for street food it’s definitely one of my personal favourites, with choices ranging from burgers and scotch eggs, to burritos and wraps. All, of course, in addition to wonderful fresh produce.

What do you think about when you see, or hear about, someone decanting a bottle of wine? I know lots of people who consider it a bit of an unnecessary fuss; equally I know plenty of others who will almost always reach for the decanter.

My view is that decanting does make a difference, sometimes surprisingly so, and for certain wines, you owe it to yourself to do it.

For the benefit of those who are unfamiliar with bacon jam, we are essentially talking about bacon of the spreadable variety… And just like that, my mouth is watering.

Key ingredients include smoked bacon, garlic, onions, coffee and maple syrup. The smoky yet sweet flavour combination and jammy consistency make this the ultimate food – just perfect with cheese, fresh bread, on burgers, or - if throwing caution (and etiquette) to the wind - straight out of the jar.

I have always had a soft spot for Manchester – it was the first place I lived when I reached UK shores 10 years ago, and whilst a gap year living on the curry mile resulted in a rotund little Miss_McIntosh trundling off to university, I love the place – it’s creative, friendly and wonderfully Northern.

I’ve just spent a glorious 3 days in Spain. Some of it on a pig farm. But, why?! I was exploring the wonderful world of what is often described as the world’s best ham - Jamon Iberica de Bellota of Spain. My personal favourite, rich and succulent with a heady aroma, it is produced from the acorn fed black pig in Spain.
